Bowl (Kenny Kwan) and Noodle (Steven Cheung) are two idle high school students who need to evade at least three menaces each day before they can get to school. There are the nasty neighbourhood bully Razor, uniformed policeman David and small-time hood Ganker who is constantly on the lookout for new blood to replenish his ever shrinking gang. Bowl and Noodle inadvertently join Ganker's gang and find a shortcut to fame but a deadly mission... An innocent peasant girl Shaw is befriended by scholar Yang who kindly takes her in as a chamber maid. Yang's jealous wife (who is having an affair with the magistrate's son, Lui) is furious and marries Shaw off to a poor man notorious for being well endowed.
Interestingly, her gentle natured husband respects her wishes to remain a virgin. The philandering Lui, however, attempts to rape Shaw, only to be stopped by her spouse. An enraged Lui retaliates by murdering him whereby Shaw is framed for his death.
Shaw is ordered to confess her sins by Lui's father, a corrupt local magistrate, who subjects the meek and helpless victim to a brrage of stomach-churning punishments all to the ghasly delight of his team of conspirators.
